The old Literary Cafe Talk Show, episode 29. Larry the Super Salesman.

Jan 5th, 2010 by Administrator

The show opens with Linda opining on what she likes about Chad Stanley. At 3:10 – Chad Stanley interviews the self proclaimed super salesman Larry Watson. Though Larry and Chad mainly discuss salesmanship they do spend some time talking about Larry’s book “Major Decision”. The book which at the time he was hoping to turn into a screenplay is about the first manned mission to Mars. Also fascinating 10 years later is their discussion of Y2K. The interview which lasts the whole show is interrupted at 17:12 by Kenn Louis’ flash cartoon Toxi City starring his Dogs of Tremont characters. 25:10 The show closes with the Billy Clarksville Band performing their song “Lincoln Park” (from a 9/24/99 performance at the Literary Cafe).

The house band was, Mike Zubal, Tom Zubal, John Scully, Mike Cymbalist Jr. and Joe Milan.
Principal recording was on May 8th, 1999. The show first aired on Cleveland Cable Access on January 15th, 2000. This was the last Chad Stanley hosted Literary Cafe Talk Show to air on Cleveland Cable Access.
Finally, befitting what was then the beginning of a new century this was the first show that I edited on a computer. I used imovie 1 and it’s probably only evident in the way the titles look that I used a computer. Imovie 1 did not have the color correction filters and  pan and scan abilities that I used today to prep this file for the web. Even if it did I wouldn’t have known how to use them back then.
Ah, it was a fun ride. Twenty nine Chad Stanley hosted episodes on Cable Access 53, Monday nights @ 10:30 p.m. from December 1996 to January 2000.
There might be another episode laying around my house but I’ve been looking around for stray tapes for the past 3 years since I started putting these shows on the net.  So, it’s 29 Chad Stanley episodes for now and probably forever.
Next up are the Lara hosted episodes. Roughly, I think there’s about 11 with her at the helm.
